Connect your CSV files stored in Microsoft SharePoint or OneDrive directly to Marq's data connections. This allows your data to automatically sync and update your designs.
Before you start
✅ You'll need:
- A CSV file saved in SharePoint or OneDrive
- Admin access to your SharePoint/OneDrive account
- Access to Marq's data connections feature
⚠️ Important: This process creates a public link to your file. Only use this method with non-sensitive data.
Step 1: Prepare your CSV file
- Save your file as a
.csv
format in your SharePoint or OneDrive account - Verify your data - ensure your CSV has clear column headers and clean data
💡 Tip: Test your CSV by opening it in a text editor first to ensure it displays correctly.
Step 2: Create a shareable link
In SharePoint or OneDrive:
- Navigate to your file and click the Share icon next to the file name Show Image
- Click the permissions dropdown in the "Send Link" window
- Select "Anyone with the link" and click Apply Show Image
- Copy the link by clicking the "Copy link" button ✅ Success indicator: You'll see a confirmation that the link was copied
Step 3: Convert to direct download link
The link you copied won't work directly in Marq - you need to modify it first.
- Open a text editor (like Notepad or any plain text editor)
- Paste your copied link - it will look something like this:
https://companyoffice365.sharepoint.com/:w:/s/ITLDTeamSpace/EXFW_yOGwdxFubfOL2bOrgARQ1xxqqQxhczJ16p2PyZQMA?e=uzMCD4
- Find the question mark (?) in your link
- Replace everything after the ? with
download=1
Before:https://companyoffice365.sharepoint.com/:w:/s/ITLDTeamSpace/EXFW_yOGwdxFubfOL2bOrgARQ1xxqqQxhczJ16p2PyZQMA?e=uzMCD4
https://companyoffice365.sharepoint.com/:w:/s/ITLDTeamSpace/EXFW_yOGwdxFubfOL2bOrgARQ1xxqqQxhczJ16p2PyZQMA?download=1
- Copy your modified link - you'll use this in Marq
Step 4: Connect to Marq
- Go to your Marq data connections page
- Click "Add a Data Set" and select CSV
- Paste your modified link in the "Enter URL" field
- Click Connect to test the connection ✅ If successful: You'll see a preview of your data
Step 5: Configure your data
Select your unique identifier
Choose the column that contains unique information (like ID numbers, names, or email addresses). This helps Marq properly map your data.
Choose image columns (optional)
If your CSV contains image URLs, select those columns so Marq can display images in your designs.
Preview your data
Review how your data will appear in Marq's editor and make any necessary adjustments.
Test your connection
- Save your data source
- Create a test design using your connected data
- Verify the data displays correctly
🎉 You're done! Your CSV data is now connected and will update automatically when you change the source file.
Troubleshooting
Common issues and solutions
❌ "No data found" error
- Check that your link ends with
?download=1
- Verify your CSV file isn't empty
- Ensure the file permissions allow "Anyone with the link"
❌ "Connection failed" error
- Test your download link in a browser - it should automatically download the file
- Try creating a new share link and repeating the process
- Check that your CSV file is properly formatted
❌ Data not updating
- SharePoint/OneDrive links update automatically, but changes may take a few minutes to appear
- Try refreshing your Marq data connection
- Verify you're editing the correct file in SharePoint/OneDrive
❌ Formatting issues
- Ensure your CSV uses standard comma separation
- Check that special characters display correctly
- Verify column headers are clear and descriptive
