We're updating our login sharing policy to improve security and platform performance for all Marq users. Starting September 10th (09/10/25), users will be limited to staying logged in on up to two devices at the same time.
Why We're Making This Change
This update helps us:
- Enhance security for all accounts
- Improve platform speed and reliability
- Ensure better performance for everyone using Marq
How It Works
Current State
Users can currently share login credentials across multiple devices without restrictions.
New Update (Starting September 10th (09/10/25))
- Users can stay logged in on up to 2 devices simultaneously
- If you try to log in on a third device, you'll see this message: "You were logged into too many devices. For your security, we've logged you out of all other devices."
- You can then log back in on your preferred devices
What This Means for You
If you don't share login credentials
No action needed. This change won't affect your daily use of Marq.
If you currently share login credentials
You'll need to:
- Add additional user licenses for team members who need their own access
- Use the impersonation feature for occasional one-off access needs (see below)
Alternative Solutions
Impersonation Feature
For situations where temporary access is needed (like an admin creating content for a team member), we're introducing an impersonation feature that allows account admins to sign in as another user.
Adding User Licenses
The best long-term solution is to ensure each person who regularly uses Marq has their own user license. This provides:
- Individual access and security
- Personal workspaces and settings
- Better collaboration features
- Transparent version history

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I accidentally get logged out?
It's unlikely, but it could happen if you switch between different browsers (like Chrome to Safari) on the same device. The system counts different browsers as separate sessions.
What if I need emergency access to someone else's account?
Use the impersonation feature or contact your account admin. For urgent situations, reach out to our support team.
Can I get an exception to this policy?
This policy affects all Marq users and accounts. If you have questions or specific needs, please contact your Customer Success Manager to talk about it.
How do I add more user licenses?
Contact your Customer Success Manager or account admin to discuss adding licenses to your plan.
What if I'm traveling and need to access Marq from different locations?
Accessing Marq from different locations on the same device won't be affected. The limit applies to simultaneous sessions across different devices, not locations.
Will this affect mobile and desktop apps differently?
No, the policy applies equally to all access methods - web browsers, mobile apps, and desktop applications, each of which counts as a separate device.
